        Frequently Asked Questions

Will I receive the same high standards of treatment in a multi bed clinic as I would if I was treated on an individual basis?
The practice of multi bed treatment has been working in the USA and China for many years. The aim is to provide those who cannot afford acupuncture on a one to one basis with the opportunity of receiving the same quality treatment. Private treatment is available on request at time of booking.

I may be embarrassed about receiving treatment in the same room as other people?
Privacy is protected and any information given is treated as confidential, there is a side room available if you need to discuss any delicate matters. We also provide screens and blankets so that you cannot be seen by other patients and we protect your modesty. In the majority of treatments only the bottom part of your legs and arms maybe required.

How soon will I feel the benefits of acupuncture?
This depends on each individual and how they respond. Some benefit is usual felt by treatment six, some feel better whilst still on the treatment couch. At the start of each session we will review your progress and decide together on your next appointment. A typical course of treatment starts weekly and as the condition improves the appointments become further apart.

Can I stop my prescribed medication?
The practitioners will never ask you to reduce or cease your medication this MUST be discussed with your GP. It is not unusual for patients to feel less reliant in their medication.

Can I have other treatments whilst having acupuncture?
Yes, but preferable to let one treatment settle before attempting another. Treatments can work well in conduction with each other.

I am pregnant can I have treatment?
Yes you can, acupuncture can help with nausea and vomiting. Ask about your pre birth care and help with turning breech babies. If you go over your due dates we can offer help and teach you some useful acupressure points for use during labour.

Will the acupuncture needles hurt?
The needles are fine and insertion is usually pain free. Sometimes a sensation is felt after the needle is inserted as the qi moves, but this passes quickly. It can be a dull ache, slight sting or pulling sensation.

Can I bring someone to the treatment with me?
You are welcome to bring a friend or relative with you, we have plenty of room in the clinic. If you are under sixteen a parent or legal guardian is needed to be present during treatment.

How will I feel after treatment?
Each individual is different but commonly people feel relaxed and calm. Sometimes symptoms can be feeling tired or light headed but this usually pass with subsequent treatments.
